Hesident Magistrates's Coubt. (Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., R.M.) Rooney v. Annet.—Complaint under Dog Licensing Ordinance. Withdrawn, ant paying costs Bs. Same v. Smithson; Same v. Nolan. Withdrawn on similar terms.
AVari>en's Court. (Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., Warden). Leen v. Mangan.—This was a complaint, that the defendant having a grant for residence area at Hyde, was holding too much ground (about two acres). Mr. Catomore for complainant, Mr. Rowlatt for defendant. It was admitted that the defendant occupied more ground than an acre, but a dooument was tendered to the Court, signed A. Chisholm, consenting to the defendant occupying whatever ground he might have enclosed beyond the one acre granted to him under his certificate. Mr. Catomore objected, that there was no proof of the signature to the document, and that it was not shown that the person whose signature it was alleged to be (the manager of the Taieri Lake station) had any right to give such a permission. Judgment:—That the defendant forfeit all land beyond one acre, to be measured from the peg or corner nearest his dwelling, and that, in the event of complainant obtaining a grant of the surplus, he should pay to defendant £6 compensation for fence or crop; defendant to pay costs of Court Bs., and 21s. professional costs.
