MESSRS FIELD AND PYKE.
(To the Editor of the Mount Ida ChbonicEe.}' Sib, —Referring to the paragraph whieb was copied in your last issue from the ' Tuapeka Times,' anent Messrs. Field and Pyke, I may stfate that I wrote to Mr. Pyke for anapology for some remarks made by him, reflecting on the official character of Mr. R. E. Field. Mr. Pyke made the amende honorable, and in the samj letter made some very impertinent remarks relating to my position in the matter. After informing Mr. Pyke that his remarks were impertinent, I declined further correspondence oil the subject. Two subsequent letters sent addressed to me by Mi 4 . Pyke were returned unopened.
