NASEBY SLUDGE CHANNEL.
Mb. Mervyn asked the What action they purpose taking to give effect to Mr. Simpson's report in reference to the Construction of a sludge channel, and also: a .water race for flushing purposes, at Naseby ? . Mb. Reeves said the Government were not in a position to take action at present upon the information that had been afforded to them in Mr. Simpson's report; v they were exceedingly anxious tocarry out anyi work that might develop the mining in that district, they felt it . necessary., they should have further information. ' Mr. Simpson was engaged to see whether the Waters' of the Manuherikia could be brought' Bafely, and at a reasonable expense, on to the ter;-j races. When the reports came in it would probably be necessary to obtain further professional information as to the best manner in which a sludge channel could be constructed and if no insuperable difficulties were met with, he would venture to say that the Government would take speedy and efficient steps for the promotion of the object the honorable gentleman had in view.
