Tho recent finding of the 533 oz at Dimolly is thus desYibcd by the 'Express* of the lCfch July : Another large nugget was brought into Dunolly on Friday last by a miner named Davey, weighing in the gross 533 oz., or nearly 45.1b. weight This prize was found at the Soots, about threo miles from here, in the wall of an old trench that had been cut about nine years ago, when a large number of men were at work in tho locality, and an immense a mount of gold was being obtained, principally in nuggets varying from a few pennyweights up to hundreds of ounces in weight. The successive rainfalls had, with'the continuous washing and crumbling away of the soil, brought this handsome little fortune into daylight to be dropped upon by Davey, who was passing by, and seeing what looked like a apeck of gold, hs applied his pick, and knocked out his long-sought pile. A ■ piece weighing IS7 oz. was, at the. time above referred to, obtained in close proximity to the piece under notice. The Old Lead, too, has yielded up a nice nest egg of some 50 oz. weight. Tho nugget, has been purchased by Sir. Schlemm, who intends to take it* with" him to Germany, and' place it in the Berlin Exhibition. 'The degree of fineness of the gold is si.id to exceed 23 carats, and the price paid by Mr. Schlemm was L 2,025. The lucky finder sold it to the Bank of Victoria, from which Mr. Sehlemm bought it.
