ENGLAND'S AID TO IRELAND.
It would be well to remind Mr. Butt,, Mr. Martin, and other Irish agitators,. that while the United States contri-. buted £200,000, and France, a very, small sum,.to the Irish sufferers during : the famine and subsequent years, England seut the following besides a,. grant - of £10,000,000—-viz., British Kelief Association, £4,300,000 ; friends, £200,000; other sources, £200,000 ; private benevolences as known, £300,000; poor rate, £1,500,000; mating a cluding the grant of £10,000,000. The ' Nation,' ' Flag of Ireland,' < News,' and ' Irishman ' should have gratitude enough to state these facts, remembering that "a friend in need is a friend indeed.—' Liverpool Albion.'
