RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.—May 23.

James M'G-lowne was brought up on the charge of being drunk and disorderly on the public street. Discharged with a caution
Police v. Pro van.—Keeping open his licensed house the Liverpool Arms •Hotel on the morning of Sunday sfch May. Case not made out. Dismissed.
Brookes v. Sheedy. Claim for £2l 15s. 6d., with interest on dishonored acceptance, due 17th April, 1870. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount claimed, with costs.
Hjorring v. "Watson.—Adjourned till four o'clock to wait arrival of mail. Same v. Rich.—Claim, £24 95., for goods sold and delivered. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount, with 255. costs.
Leary (Trustee in the bankrupt estate of P. P. Colledge) v. Parmer and Money.—Claim for damage, £lO. No appearance of Parmer. Mr. Eowlatt for plaintiff. The Bailiff said that he had seen Parmer, who declined to accept service of the summons. The Magistrate held the service to be sufficient under the circumstances, and the case was then proceeded with, and judgment given for £8 18s. 6d., with £1 Is. costs of Court, 21s. expenses, and professional costs, £1 Is.
Barber v. Anderson.—The Bailiff explained that he had entered the coal pit in which the defendant was working, and was dodged by the defendant, and was therefore unable to find him, and left the summons at Macreadie's house, at the Kyeburn, who was a working mate of Anderson's. Adjourned to 28th instant, at Hamilton.
