William Williams, charged on the information of Constable Chartres with being drunk and disorderly in Levenstreet on the 6th March, admitted the offence. Fined 10s., and ss. 6d. costs. Brookes v. ¥. Nokes.—Claim, £3 3s. 6d. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount claimed, with costs 6s.

L. W. Busch v. Emma Lane.—Claim, £2 10s. Defendant pleaded not indebted Judgment for amount claimed with costs. Immediate execution.

Aitken v. Tootell. —Claim, £lB 3s. 2d. Debt admitted. Payment to be lialf in a fortnight and remainder in a month. Costs, 19s. Joseph Boyd, charged with assaulting a Chinaman named Ah Cliing, at tlie Kyeb.urn Hotel, on the 27th ult. The accused pleaded guilty, remarking at the same time that he had but a very faint recollection of the circumstances connected therewith. G. A. Chapman, proprietor of the hotel, being sworn, deposed that on the day in question, hearing a dispute in the billiard room over the game, lie went in to prevent any disturbance. Ho was, however, too late, as, before he could get between them, he saw the defendant strike the complainant in the face. He thought the blow a tolerably hard one. The Bench inflicted a penalty of 10s., or three days' imprisonment with hard laber.

Matthew Cooper v. Anthony Gallagher and Others.—This was an action to recover the sum of £4, being the value of two sluice-boxes and. one tub removed from plaintiff's tail race in Moore's Gully, without the consent of the owner. Mr. Cooper, in his evidence, admitted that there had been a partner' with him in the ownership of the property, and Mr. Ross sought to obtain a nonsuit on this, point. The Magistrate agreed, with the consent of both parties, to amend the complaint and allow the name of the aft sent partner to be inserted. Judgment to the effect that the property should be returned, the Magistrate remarking that the case should have been brought for rather than for damallowed.
