SUSTENTATION COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the "Union Church Susi Mentation Committee was held at the Union Church on Monday last, 23rd instant. Ten members of Committee were present. 11. W. Eobinson, Esq., in the chair. Mr. Busch reported that the SubCommittee appointed to raise the funds to meet the balance of salary due to the Hev. Mr. Burchett (£4O), had succeeded in raising the necessary sum by giving an acceptance, which would fall due in June next, and that the money had been handed over to Mr. Burchett. Mr. Busch, in absence of treasurer, - further stated that at present there remained to the credit of the Committee a balance of £l7 Bs. , « v ''. Mr. John Breamer moved—" That a * collection be at once set on foot for the purpose of making up the deficiency to*

meet the acceptance of the Sub-Com-mittee referred to, and that Messrs. Inder, Dixon, Jackson; Robinson, and the mover be a Sub-Committee to carry out the foregoing resolution Carried.

The Secretary was instructed to reply to Mr. Burchett's letter, informing that gentleman that arrangements had been made for raising the deficiency to meet the acceptance, and that it is intended to vest the minister's residence in trustees, with whom he would have to arrange about occupation. Mr. Bremner then moved—"That this meeting stand adjourned till Mon day, 6th June, and that all collections be completed by that date, and paid into the Bank of New Zealand." Carried.
