PUBLIC MEETING OF MINERS.

The adjourned meeting of the miners of Naseby, for the purpose of appointing from their number a committee to watch over the mining interest of the district, took place in the Victoria Hall on Saturday evening last. The attendance was not so numerous as at t'ie previous meeting, or as the importance of the question demanded. Mr. Walter Morning ton was again called to the chair.

The Chairman read the minutes of the previous meeting, and said that that meeting was adjourned till this evening for the special purpose of electing a Committee, from amongst the miners, to -watch over the mining interest of the district. He trusted that neither apathy nor indifference would be shown iri,.this most important matter. The tailings question was*a momentous one to the district, the miners, and the freeholders, and he hoped that the meeting wpuld appoint men to act on the Com mittee who were of a thoroughly practical character, and who were in every way fully qualified to act. The following gentlemen were then appointed a Committee, with (if necessary) power to add to their number.: — Messrs. O'Loughkn, Lewis, Parmer, Mu'lholhindjSheedy, Martin," Maloney, 11. Donnelly, G-a'i-lagher, and -Jackson.

Votes of thanks to Mr. George, for the use of the hall, and to the Chairman, terminated the proceedings.
