MANAWIATU (FOXTON) RACECOURSE TRUSTEES.
ANNUAL meeting. The ,annual meet ing of the Mu - nawatu (Foxton) Racecourse Trustees was held in the Racing Club office yesterday, presided over by Air.. .John Kebboll, of Levin (chairman). Also present were Trustees J. R. Whyte (Tokomarn), W. E. Barber, C. E. Robinsou, A. Fraser and the secretarf (Mr. J. Martin). Messrs D. R. Ogilvy and M, 'B. Bergin were also in attendance. An apology for absence was creeived from Air. M. E. Perreau. The chairman's annual report was read and adopted as follows : “The Trustees have the pleasure le report, that the credit balance at tin- Commercial Bank of Australia is £22 1/4 and after paying accounts will leave a credit balance of £l4 18/10. “During Inc year under review I have to report that the racecourse buildings, and tracks have been kept in tin- usual satisfactory manner by the caretaker, Mr. Simpson. “Owing to tin- very serious financial depression our Dominion is passing through and flic consequent serious effect- this depression is having on Racing Clubs in general the committee of the Foxton Racing Club has refrained from expending money except in the ease of urgent maintenance work. “It; is proposed to form a new training track on the course in the near future and also to make a new cut ranee to racecourse off main road. “The cost of this work will be refunded to the Club by the Government as a. refund on taxation. “The Club has decided to reduce its gate charges for its forthcoming meeting and has also decided to run a 10/- totalisa.tor. “It is with very deep regret that 1 have to record the loss by dealtli of an early member in the person of the late Mr. Francis Robinson. The late Mr. Robinson was a trustee for 40 years and was also one of the original members of the Foxton Racing Club and his demise removes an irreparable gentleman from our midst. “It is with deep regret that I have also to record the death of Air. Brooke-Taylor, a member of the Foxton Racing Club.” The balance-sheet was also read (I adoptafl. Mr. Bergin said it mas pleasing to find a local body able to show a credit balance these times, even it small. He also impressed the gratification of the Foxton Racing Cliilb' committee at finding Mr. Robbed still occupying th eposition of chairman to the Trustees, and also at finding him hole and hearty.
