TOWN HALL TALKIES

English and American press critics have proclaimed “The Wrecker,” a B.iD.F. sound synchronised production to be screenid on Wednesday at- the Town Hall, the greatest example of how sound can establish an atmosphere of gripping realism. The story is, of course, adapted from Arnold Ridley’s ' railway ‘ thriller, which was recently staged for extended seasons'throughout Australasia. The story, briefly, deals with an unknown fiend known as "Jack the Wrecker,” who is responsible for many disastrous railway accidents;' several of which are depicted throughout the film. The sound of the expresses rushing to their doom, and the subsequent terrible wreck's are seen and heard in a manner which will leave any audience gasping with incredulous wonder. The all-British cast includes Bonita Hume, Carlyle Blackwell, and Jouline Johnson. Also screening-, “The Eligible . Mr. Bangs” talkie comedy, and “People Born in February” a- talkie horoscope. Usual prices.

Described as one of the sensations of the talking- screen, Greta Garbo’s first talkie, “Anna Christie," 'should receive" a great welcome in Fox-ton. Greta Garbo in the role of an outcast woman, gives us a sensational performance, both in acting and speaking, • and is capably supported, by a fine cast of English speaking artists.
