GISBORNE PROMOTER, FINED. Gisborne, Yesterday. AL - . P. H. Harper, S.AL, imposed the maximum line of £i) on Robert J. Kerridge, on a charge of Sunday trading, defendant having pleaded guilty to ikeeping the Garrison Hall open on November 36th for a miniature golf links. The Magistrate said tile principle which distinguished (he game from golf and tennis played by members of clubs or on courts run by a corporation was that in this case the g - ame was played for private gain. Defendant, before opening, should have interviewed the police, but instead be took the law into his own hands. Defendant had six days a week which was surely sufficient to give him an adequate return.
