About 5 p.m., in company with a friend named Peggy Braid, she went to Tomahawk Beach to bathe. Apparently the girls became separated, for at about 5.20 p.m. Miss Braid came to Miss Kydd’s home asking if she had come back, as she was not on the beach. A search was immediately made for the missing girl, but without avail, and it could be surmised that she had entered the water during the absence of her friend, and had been swept out bv undertow. The police were communicated with, and 'Constable Meiklejohu patrolled the beach until nightfall, hut no sign of the unfortunate girl’s body was seen. Further searching- later in the evening was also without result.
