ACCIDENT ON SANDON ROAD.

PILLION RIDER INJURED,

An accident occurred on the Fuxtmi-'Sansou highway about throe miles south of Sanson last night whereby A. YV. Campbell, of 74 Elizabeth Street, -Wellington, sustained a broken leg.

(Campbell was pillion riding on a motor-cycle ridden by a friend. When a few miles south of Sanson they were dazzled by the lights of an approaching car driven by Mr. D. A. Lamb, of Inglewood. The motor-cycle collided with the car hut fortunately only grazed the side. The force of the impact was sufficient to break Campbell’s leg and threw both rider and passenger to the ground. The machine was not badly damaged. - 'Campbell was at once conveyed to Foxton where he received atten(ion from Dr. Wyliie and was removed to. the Palmerston 'North Hospital. His companion was not injured and after lie recovered from the shock of the accident was able to continue, bis journey.

CAR OVERTURNS NEAR SHANNON BRIDGE.

A ear driven by Mr. YV. Ross overturned near the Shannon Bridge on Saturday evening, but the occupant, fortunately escaped without serious injury.

■Mr. Boss was returning to Foxton from Shannon and when near iug the approach of the Shannon Bridge the wheels encountered, some loose metal which caused Iho ear to go ovyr a sleep hank. The vehicle turned over several times and finally came to rest on its hood. Mr. Ross although shaken was uninjured, but experienced some difficulty in opening the door and extricating himself from his unfortunate predicament. His clothes were badly damaged by acid from (lie battery. The car was raised the same evening and brought into Foxton. It is not seriously damaged. The road in the locality has been raised for some distance, there being good, drops oil both sides and it is a wonder that there have not been more accidents there. AT THE SPORT'S.

'file sports were very free from accidents this year. A number of minor spills, however, kept the First Aid Officer (Mr. J. Martin) fairly busy. In all five riders were attended to" for abrasions, split thumb and cuts of n minor nature.
