TWO SISTERS DIE

WITHIN 48 HOURS.

Auckland, October 8. Two former residents of Grafton Road, Alisses Emma Mary and Eleanor Jane White- died at Rotorua within two days. For many years they had lived at Grafton Hoad, and pere enthusiastic workers in the Methodist Church. A lew years ago they went to live at Rotorua.

Miss Eleanor White, who had been ailing for some time, was nursed by her sister. On October 4 Miss Emma White died suddenly, aud her sister followed her two days later. The Alisses While were daughters of the late John White, who Was a noted Afaori scholar and was in 1879 engaged by the Government to write “The Ancient .History of the Maoris,” which is now recognised as of considerable value.
