RACE FOR LIGHT CARS
TO BE INCLUDED IN LABOUR DAY SPORTS.
The 'Foxton United Sports Association has decided to include a rare for light cars in its programme. for the motor cycle sports to be held on the local racecourse mi Labour Day. The Association has gone carefully into the matter and a day or so ago a light ear was tried out im I lie t rack under Hie supervision nf Mr. Simpson (caretaker), which pointed to the innovation proving a decided success.
Mr. iSimpson informed our representative yesterday lb.nl as far as lie could see light cars would not do any damage lo the course. In fact, he considered they would lie less detrimental to the surface than motor cycles. In any case 1m was taking precautions against any possible damage by pegging off a track some 20 feet cut from Hie rails for the race.
The Fox-ton Racing Club has been approached on Die matter and has agreed to allow the race to be Ladd.
At last night’s meeting of the Association the secretary reported I ha! he had been guaranteed at least nine entries for the event add ii was decided that the town commi!tee meet, Mr. Medford, of Palmerston .North, at an early date to linalise arrangements for the race.
The innovation should prove very interesting and a popular atI ruction for the meeting.
