NEW ZEALAND DRINK BILL.
The Standing Committee of the New Zealand Alliance at its meeting on Tuesday adopted the following resolution: “That the Standing 'Committee of the New Zealand Alliance observes -with regret an increase in the expenditure on intoxicating liquor of £550,662 in the year 1020 as compared with 1028, making a total of £8,116,804, and considers that in the light of the existing economic depression and widespread unemployment this increase is deplorable; it further notes that the increase in expenditure coincides with an increase of 211 in the convictions for drunkenness, 130 in'"the convictions for being found on licensed premises after hours, and 63 for selling liquor without a licence.”
