On Tuesday evening the Loyal Manawatu Lodge of Past Grands, of Palmerston North, visited the Foxton Lodge of Oddfellows and conferred the Purple Degree on Bros. G. King,, J. ! \V. Walker and W-. G. Nve. Bro Dilks presided, assisted by Bro. Northoy. At the conclusion of the ceremony Bros. A. G. Hunt ley, J. W. Walker, G. King and W. Nye .were initiated into -the Loyal Manawatu Lodge of Past Grands.

The usual monthly meeting of the local lodge was held the same evening when the visiting brethren were asked to conduct the meeting. Bro. Northcy,. N.G., presided.

The ibalance-sheet for the August quarter was read and favourably commented upon. 'Prior to closing the lodge Bro. L. King, N.G., 'thanked the visiting brethren, for their assistance during the evening and asked that Lodge honours be extended to them.

Bro. N'orthey replied on behalf of the visitors. At the conclusion of the meeting supper was handed round after which a game of quoits and a singsong terminated a pleasant and enjoyable evening.
