Mr T. A. Robinson, who has been on holiday in the South Island, returned to Fox ton this morning. *
Miss M. Barber, who has been acting- as relieving Sister at the Taumaranui Hospital, is paying a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Barber, of Motniti. She is accompanied by Mrs Jordan, wife of Dr. Jordan.
Within live weeks of the attainment of her 100th birthday, Mrs. Mary Ann Catt, died on Tuesdav at the residence of her daughter, Mrs H. Judd, Elthain. Born in Sussex, England, on November 10, 1830, Mrs. Catt came to New Zealand seventy years ago, and settled at Hutt-. For fifty-six years she was a resident of the Wairarapa. Her husband, Mr W. Catt, died thirty years ago. Deceased had a family of eight; there are four survivors —Mr. Henry '.Catt (Carterton), Mi-. William Catt (Timaru), Mrs. J. Judd (Eltham), and Mrs. Sparrow (Gisborne). Numerous descendants include members of live generations.
Becoming suddenly ill on (lie morning of the anniversary celebrations of the Petone West School, of which lie was the first headmaster, Mr. I). S. Bedingfield, 8.A., headmaster of Petone Central School, died yesterday. For over 25 years the late Mr. Bedingfield, who resided at Melling, Lower Mutt, was associated prominently with education in Petone. He commenced as first assistant in the Petone Central School, then the Petone District High School. In 11)00 lie was appointed the firSt headmaster'of Petone Wjest School, and in 1921 headmaster of Petone Central. School. He was due to retire next year. The late Mr. Bed-, ingflold is survived by his widow, a daughter, Miss Bedingfield, and a son, Mr. D. L. Bedingfield, 8.A., L.L.8., of Petone.
