Claptain L. ‘Hayes, MX'., of the Fisheries Branch of the Marine Department, is at present oil a visit to Foxton in "connection with iiis investigations into the habits of the whitebait.
The qvening service at the Alethodist Church on Sunday evening was conducted by Air P. J. Alairs, who some years ago was minister in charge of the Foxton Methodist circuit. Mr Alairs retired from the •ministry some years ago for health reasons, and took up poultry farming at Paraparauinu. He has now taken up his residence in Foxton.
On Thursday Airs Eliza Hyde, of Tuakau. celebrated her 99th birthday. Mrs Hyde, who came to New Zealand from Bugdon, Huntingdonshire, remembers well the wed - ding of Queen Victoria. She is a pioneer of the Wlairoa (iClevcdon) and Tuakau districts, and came to New Zealand 09 years ago with husband, the late Air Charles Hyde, and a family of six children.
