OBITUARY
THE LATE MRS. H- E. EASTON
The...funeral of the late Mrs R. F. Easton look place on Sunday afternoon, and was largely attended. Services at All Saint s’ Church and the graveside were conducted by the Rev. W. LI. Walton. In the course of a brief eulogy, Rev. Walton spoke of the devotion of Mr and Mrs Easton to their church and their well-known public and private generosity. He referred to the fact that the church building in Foxton was erected in 187(1 under the late Mr Easton’s supervision, and was reconstructed by him in 1900; thus not only spiritually and materially, but bodily as well was lie interested in the cause. The late Mrs Easton, who passed away last Thursday, has been a Resident of Foxton for the past sixty years. Deceased was horn at Onehunga close on 80 years ago, her parents, Mr and Mrs James IC'olev, having arrived in Auckland in the early forties. After marrying the late Theophilus Easton, they took up their residence in Foxton, and were amongst the. early pioneers of this district, winning thp sympathy and esteem of. all for their sterling qualities and sincerity of purpose. Mr Easton predeceased his wife nineteen sears ago. Mrs Easton is survived by a large number of descendants. She leaves three daughters: Mosdafnes T. Twist (Pliinnierlon), ,1. Cameron ('-Newbury) and C. Petersen (Foxton), and four sons: Messrs WSLliaui (Levin), Hugh (Shannon), Richard and Ken (Foxton). There arc +2 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.
