FOXTON WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
A meeting of the local Institute recently established, was held on Tuesday afternoon. There was a good attendance and the interest taken in the movement generally augurs well for its future success. Mrs. Perreau presided and welcomed new members. Correspondence included letters from Airs. Noel West (lion, see.) and Miss Crawford (treasurer), which extended the Federation’s welcome and good wishes. Members are much indebted to Mrs. W .H. Smith, Afonina-, whoso kindness in motoring Airs. WaringTaylor from Shannon, made it possible for the Institute to he visited on the occasion of its first meeting by the President, of the Wellington Provincial Federation of W’lomeu’s Institutes.' Mrs. Taylor expressed her pleasure at meeting members, and was most helpful in giving advice and assistance. She Hum gave a most instructive demonstration on making sea-grass stools.
The president, Mrs. Perreau was appointed delegate to the half-yearly meeting at Shannon on 21st October and Alias AT. Poole was appointed press correspondent to “Home and Country.”
Afternoon tea was provided by Alls. Perreau, who, on the motion of Mrs. P. Easton and Miss .Moimtford, was accorded a very heartv vote of thanks.
On the motion of the President, a vote of appreciation to Mrs. AY. Taylor was carried by acclamation.
It was decided that the next meeting be held on .the third Thui'sda-v in October.
