ALL interested in the welfare of (■nr seaside resort will be pleased to know that at last definite steps arc to be taken to construct a road giving safe access to the bench via the sanatorium. This road will also unlike attractive a number of sections for persons desiring to lease same and to erect seaside dwellings thereon. •In order In provide the Harbour Board’s proportion of interest and. sinking fund on the original road loan the occupied sections, were loaded at the rale of T2/6 per annum. As taeli subsequent section was leased, the loading was imposed instead of it proportionate reduction made on each section. Over a number of years this impost has built up a sum in excess of the required original, levy which must now approximate the amount stilted to carry out the proposed road. Probably the excess road levy has been transferred to meet liabilities in the Board’s general fund. This point so far has not been mentioned at Board meetings when the wading question has been under discussion.
