MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly mooting of the Manawatu County Council was held at Sanson on Tuesday, Cr. AY. E. Bn ilber presiding. Also present were Crs. Ale lvel vie, Boyce, Per-i-ett., Pearce, Reid and Hunt. CORRESPONDENCE.
(From the Minister of Internal Affairs, forwarding 1 plan of regional boundaries drawn up by the Town Planning Board. —Following a discussion on the projected boundaries of the areas, it was decided that they be approved but that the council inform the Minister of Internal Affairs that it is of the opinion that the time is inopportune to add to the burden of taxation of the men on the la,nd.
ENGINEER’S REPORT. The county engineer (Mr. 11. Y. Bond) reported as follows: — - “Main Highways. —The flood waters have receded from the Whiro'kino Road after registering lift, on the deepest part. No very great damage was done to . the road. The Foxton-'Shannou Road had a. little water over it for a short period, hut not enough to stop the traffic. These roads have since been graded up and repaired., The 1 aiijgi- Fox ton Road is now being shaped up and rolled ready for the hotniLx pavement. Patching has been carried out on the Himataugi-Rangiotu Road mid surface metal has been spread. A culver! lias been laid and drains have been straightened by Mr. Procter's property, Oroua Downs, on Ibe Ilimatangi-Sanson Road.
RATE POSITION. The county rate collector, Mr. Anderson, made the following report: —“The demands for current rates were posted on .July 2ft and ichain allowed on payments made up to banking on Thursday lasi, 'fhe number of payments 'made was 408, the total amount received being £7IOB 12/3. As compared with last year, this shows a reduction of £243 .1.3/6, and taking all tilings into consideration the response is very satisfactory. The amount received is made up as follows: —General, £534!) 15/7; hospital, £1222 12/-; specials, £4OO 12/4, and arrears, £69 12/4.” —Received. TRAFFIC REPORT.
Air. \V. Berry, county traffic inspector, submitted the following report: “As requested a demonstration with chlorate of sodium for spraying g-orse 'and lupin was arranged. The demonstration was carried out on Monday on Campion’s Line, Makowhai, different strengths being used on different sections. I have made arrangements with Mr. (Irani, of the Department of Agriculture, to come along one day each month and we will spray plots each month to see which is the best month for spraying. There is- also the matter of tin* gorse on Penny’s Line and the gravel reserve at the top of Ml. Stewart to be deal! with. Building permits applied for amount to £612, and fees amounting to £1 15/- were collected.” —Received. RATE ROLL.

Oppatt to Thus. Sanson, lot 7 Sanson; 11. D. Gray lo G. E. Gray, lot 227, pt. see. 268, Blk I, Moutere; F. J. Afnnn to R. M. Legg, pt. sec. 149, Kawa Kawa Native Reserve; F. J. Alann io R. Al. Legg, portion river accretion adjoining abattoirs; A. A. Hall to W. R. Scholes, pt. sec. 384, Township of Carnarvon; R. B. Afcarns to J. W. Hughes, pt. sec. 38, Douglas Block. TREASURER’S REPORT.
The county treasurer (Air. Drew) submitted the following report on the county finances: — County fund account, dr., £8755 4/7; Alain highways Joan account, ci'., £lll3 0/7; loan account, cr., £979 2/9; net dr., balance, £6663 1/3.
The amounts available for expenditure in the various ridings were shown as under: —•Sand-on, £3On 0/5; ML Stewart, £lll 16/2; W'aitohi, £273; Rongotea, £263 5/6; Carnarvon, £lll 15/6; Kavva. Kiiwa, £247 10/8; Awahpu, £275 ,8/9. —Received.
