* DAMAGES itBCOVBKFD. Gisborne, Sept. 3. Judgment was delivered in an unusual action by Mr. Harper, S.M., 10-day. Oscar jfgden, licensee of the Hew Wjairoa Hotel, claimed damages in respect to alleged negligent valuation from F. L. Eastgate, of Christchurch, valuer. Mr. Burnard, for plaintiff, had contended that the oyer-valuation of many items and the inclusion of sinks and liquor stand as furniture established the absence of the required care and skill. His Worship held that the overvaluation of carpets, tables and chairs from 60 .to 86 per cent, established negligence, and that sinks and the liquor stand were aflixecl to the premises and therefore wrongly included in the valuation. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £205 and £37 costs..
