Auckland, August 30. Four Chinese who arrived by the Penybryu to-day from Suva owe their lives to wireless. When at sea. (three days out from Suva) the captain received a radio message, stating it to be likely that: there were stowaways aboai'd. The hatches of one hold were unbattencd anil the Chinese were discovered among the sugar cargo nearly suffocated. But for the wireless message they would have died of suffocation and starvation. Appearing in the Police Court today they were ordered to lie deported. Five whites also appeared at the coiy t for having stowed away on i lie pmana at. Newcastle. Tlu* captain said that twenty others tried to stow away. The defendants were lined the amount of the passage money, in default 14 days’ imprisonment.
