WAIPAWA BY-ELECTION
' PROBABLE UNITED CANDIDATE. Napier, Last Night. A meeting of United party, supporters at Wiaipulkura.il to-night, at which Hon. E. A. Ransom and Mr. J. A. Shand (General Secretary of Hie Party) were present, unanimously requested Mr. A. E. Jull to contest the Waipawa by-election in the Party’s interests. Mr. Jull asked for a few days in which to decide.
A large gathering of Reform supporters in the Waipawn electorate unanimously selected Mr. William Tucker, wool merchant, of Clive, a* the candidate to contest the Waipawn seat rendered vacant hv the death of Sir George Hunter.
The candidate was born in Clive in 1879 and is a felliuonger and wool merchant by trade. He lived for some years at Gisborne and while there Was a member of the Gisborne Borough Council and Cook Hospital Board. He returned (o Hawk Vs Bay in 1923 and is mt present a. member .of the Hawke’s Bay County Council (iClive riding). He is a man of strong Clonservaitive principles and is a fluent and able speaker.
