FOXTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MONTH LY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Poxton Chamber of Commerce was held in Walls’ rooms on Thursday evening, presided over by Mr. J. -■■£ Hornblow (president). Also present were Messrs D. Christie, John Ross, B.’N. 'Speir.s, W. E. Bullard, H. Osborne, C. M. Hewett, P. H. Murray, W. Trueman, M. E. Perreau, I. .Corn, P. IC. 'Baikes, G. P. Smith and the secretary (Mr. R, 0. Hornblow). Apologies for 'absence were received from Messrs S. H. Poole, J. ; M. Thomson, T. McGee and J. Martin.
The President and Treasurer were authorised to operate on the baulk account. TREE PLANTING. Mr. Perreau brought up the question of agitating for further tree planting on the Crown lands to the north of Foxton as a means of absorbing some of the unemployment. The 'tree planting carried out at Tangimoana in the past had been very successful, lie said, and as there was a considerable amount of Clown land still implanted the Government should be urged to re-
consider the question. It was decided to advise Mr. J. Linldater of the seriousness eal unemployment and to ask himfcm urge upon the Government the desirability of continuing with the tree planting scheme along this coast. PICTURE ENTERTAINMENT. At tk« conclusion of business Mr. I. Corn gave a screening of his films of local scenes and which was highly interesting imbfl times amusing./ Mr. Corn was accorded a lioMy vote of thanks for his entertainment.
