The picture has for -.i-i upulous prize tight promotors of its theme the age-old ruse of unfa ked tights staged for the express intention of collecting money bet on the/local “white hope.’’ Filmed under the direction of William Wyler from an original screen story by Charles A. Logue, “The Shakedown" gives a vivid and authentic account of some of the evil machinations employed by “ring racketeers." Supporting James Murray and Barbara Kent are George Koisonnros, Wheeler Oakman, Jack Hanlon, and Harry Grihbou, Kot-.-onaros portrays the rote of a topnotch, though beetle browed lightheavy weight, while Oakman is seen ns I lie unscrupulous manager. Jack Hanlon, a nine-year-old screen sensation, appears as the street wail salvaged by Murray. Han’y (■ribbon, as usual, is east in a comely character role. With “Watch the Birdie” (Comedy), British and World’s News. .Filmed on the actual scenes of the story, “The Factories of Nottingham,” “God’s Clay,” the leading picture at the Town Hall next Wednesday should appeal by its no\elty. The story tells of a warmhearted wrong-headed little factory girl who makes silk stockings for luckier girls to wear. The cast is headed by -Anna Ondra, Trilby Clark and Haddon Mason.
