Dm* man said that he was awakened in the early hours by a knock at the door. On asking who it was he was answered, "Brandy or whisky for someone sick." No name was given, and the voice was muffled. The householder went to the hack of (lie house, where lie discovered that ihe decanter was empty. He gave the woman this information from where he was, not bothering to wait until he got hack to the door. By the time he reached the door his visitor was gone. This man went hack to lied thinking the affair strange. When he went to town the next morning' he discovered that a number of his neigh, boars had undergone a similar experience. There must have been a considerable number of people sick. One would-be helper gave the visitor a valuable Jlask on tin* assn race that it would be returned in the morning. He has not seen it since. The last house-owner visited said the woman appeared the worse for liquor.
