SARRON DEFEATS I.EUKIE. At Palmerston North on Tuesday i.ighl Pete Barron defeated Johnnie Leekie on points in a l.ii-voiiiid professional boxing' contest before a crowded audience. Barron dearie won most of the rounds, and made the pace a hot one, usually taking the light to Leekie, who a.I times was hard pur to counter tin* American’s furious two-handed hursts. Early in the fourth round Leekie was down for seven, though be was not seriously affected. It was an exciting bout, both boxers mixing it freely, with SaiTou scoring chiefly with Ids right, and Leekie mainly wrlh straight lefts.
