A SUCCESSFUL SEASON.

At the monthly meeting of the directors of the Shannon Co-opera-live Dairy Co., Ltd., held on Monday, a review of the past year’s work showed that from a pay-out. point of view that the company must rank among the highest in the district. The average payment for butterfat for the .year paid to suppliers was Is 3.578(1 iper lb. The nett profit is £9OOO and it is intended by the company to pay a further Id iper lb. on the season’s supply of all grades of butterfat, bringing the total average payout for the year up to Is 4.578 d, absorbing £7200. It is intended to make this payment on 20th August. During the year the sum of £IBOO has also been paid off the new factory 'building. This, with the high pay-out, must be considered highly satisfactory. The amount of butler manufactured was 922 tons. Regarding the store department, the increase in sales is •approximately £2OOO for the year, bringing the total sales on the year’s working to over £30,000. This, in view of the cut Late in prices which has been going on in the larger towns, must reflect credit on the management.

The annual meeting of shareholders will take place in August, the date not yet being fixed, when the two retiring directors, Messrs R. Waring T’aylor and W. E. Barber will again offer their services. It was reported that the new factory is nearing completion and it, is expected to commence manufacturing there at the end of this week.

A resolution was carried: “That the Secretary write to the National Dairy Association asking that body to circularise all diary factories in the Dominion with a view to obtaining their suppliers’ signatures to a petition requesting the Government to take action to reduce the price on concentrates coming into the Dominion in the interests of bacon growers and poultry men.”
