FLOOD PROTECTION SCHEME.

DEPUTATION TO WAIT ON MINISTERS. In view of the. recent refusal of the' Government to make a grant at present towards the cost of the Ma-liawatu-Oroua River Board’s scheme of flood protection, a deputation is to wait upon the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Public Works and Agriculture to place (lie matter before them again. The deputation, which has been arranged by Messrs J. Linklater, ALP., and j. A. Nash, ALP., will interview the Afinisters at Wellington on Wednesday morning.

If the Government can be prevailed upon 1 to make a grant for the scheme, wo ilk would be found for at least 100 men for a period of from two to three years.
