ME. NAiSH OBJECT'S TO INNUENDO. WfeUington, July 4. During his speech on the Address-in-Roply debate in the House this evening Mr. D. MeDougall (Mata ura) made a reference to land speculation in Palmerston North in which the name of the firm of “Lovelock and Nash” was mentioned.
This prompted Mr. -T. Linklater to rise to a. point of order and ask whether it was proper that the private affairs of any member of the House should he discussed.
Mr. MeDougall said lie was not aware that a member of the House was concerned. Mr. Nash: “You knew it was me.”
When Mr. MeDougall had concluded his speech Mr. Nash rose to a .poinl of order and stated that there seemed to have been an innuendo that he had been connected with land speculation. He declared emphatically that he had never engaged in any transaction affecting land in the vicinity of the Palmerston North deviation.
Mr. MeDougall said he did not wish to cast any reflection on Mr. Nash or his firm.
