FOXTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
11 ON T'HLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce was held in Ross’s rooms on Thursday evening, presided oyer by Mr. .1. K. Ilornblow (president). Also present were Messrs D. Christie, D. R. Barron, G. F. Smith, R. N. Speirs, John Ross, A. Alsop, I. 'Corn, F. 11. Murray and the secretary (Mr. R .0. Ilornblow). Apologies for absence were rereived from Messrs C. M. Hewett, J. A. Aitehison, and S. Mattar. CORRESPONDENCE, was read and dealt with as follows : From Mr. S. H. Poole accepting ihe position of auditor for the ensiling year.—Received. From Mr. M. 11. Oram, Palmerston North, accepting the Chamber’s invitation to inspect the Mali awatu Heads for the purpose of commercial aviation. —Received. From the Wellington Harbour Board enclosing copies of abridged summary of the Board’s charges, showing the latest, reductions in certain rates at the port of Welllington.—Received. ADVERTISING FOXTON. Mr. F. 11. Murray suggested that the Chamber should taike up the matter of procuring postcards or other souvenirs advertising' “ the town and submitted some samples gathered from various parts. Mr. Christie said lie had brought the matter up some years ago. It was certainly a good idea but at the time liad been considered too costly an undertaking for the Chamber. Mr. Corn intimated that lie had secured a number of topical snaps which he was preparing in postcard form which he would he pleased to demonstrate to the 'Chamber. It was decided to accept Mr. •Corn’s offer .and the matter was held over until next meeting. GENERAL. An account amounting to £1 8/9 was passed for payment.
