BOROUGH TO CITY.
PA LMEBSTON NORTH'S STATUS. A d vice was received by the Mayor oi‘ Palmerston North yesterday’ from the Government Stal istieiau that the population of the borough as at April 1, was 20,150, thereby qualifying Palmerston N. to be proclaimed a city. Applications for the necessary proclamation under the Municipal Corporations Act will be made forthwith.
