The proposal to make Saturday a universal half-holiday was opposed at a meeting of the Dairy Farmers’ Union at Palmerston N. on Thursday, several members speaking in support of Wednesday being the half-holiday. Mr. W. (J. Short said i! was not long since Feilding voted in the Saturday half-holiday, hut they -non sent in a petition to have the old fitly back,. The same thing would apply lo this district. MV. ,). Boyce observed that the Saturday half-holiday as a universal measure was riot in the inIcrests of the country as a whole. A resolution that Wednesday half-holiday was most suitable to the producers of the Dominion was carried nnanimouslv.
