Oil Tuesday evening at Orona Downs a large gathering tendered a farewell to. Mr. and Airs. Fergusson ml family who are leaving Orona Downs. Mr. Linklator, in presenting Mr. rial Mrs. Fergusson with a fourpiece silver tea. service and each of the family with a. present;, said he had known the guests of the oven tug- for a long time. Mr. Fergusson had been chairman of his first political meeting at Orona Downs. He Imd successfully served the suppliers and the directors for eleven years as manager of the Orona Dairy factory, lie had taken a keen interest in local affairs, also in Ohiireh matters (and they both would he greatly missed). Mrs. Fergusson was also presented wilh a travelling mg from the Methodist Church people. The hearty singing of “For They arc Jolly Good fellows,” followed. Mr. Fergusson, on behalf of Mrs. iTgnsson and family, thanked .Mr. Link la ter for his kind remarks and I lie re.-ddcnls of Orona Downs and Himatangi for the beautiful presents. He said he had been associated wilh the Rifle Club since its inception, and il had always been a pleasure to do what, he could foilin' Club. Mrs. Prior, in making the presentation said how -•orry they were to lose Airs. Fergusson and wished both Mr. and Airs, fergusson health and happiness in-(lie future. The evening was spent with games and songs.
