FOXTON CROQUET CLUB

ANNUAL meeting. The annual meeting of the Foxton Croquet Cluh was held at the residence of Airs. AL E. Perreau, Lady’s Mile, on Thursday. There were present Mesdames AL E. Perlean (president), Bryant, Huntley, I leak-in, K. Owen and Miss Spoirs! Apologies tor absence were receiv’d from Mrs. L\ AL Pnrkos and the Bowling* C lull representatives (Messrs J. AL Thomson and E. \V. I Imitley).

REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The annual report was read and adopted as follows: The Club experienced a very successful year although the. memberhip was lower than usual, due to several players leaving the, district. I he season opened on October 2nd, under very favourable conditions. The Wednesday tournament proved very interesting and keen competition lasted throughout the season, resulting in a close finish in the R grade, in which Mrs. Bryant gained lirsl place with 17-1 points and Mrs. Hunt ley second place with lAs points. The A grade was won by Mrs. R. Owen with 2DS points, Airs. AI. E. Perreau being runner-up with 201 points. Several players were unable to talke part in the Handicap Singles competition but piny was interesting throughout and resulted in a win for Airs. R. Owen. Keen competition was shown in the Stewart Shields and Xye Alallets challenge games and some verv inicresting games were played for those badges. Owing to the. loss of so many members during tin* year, the Club was unable to send a team to compete in the Afanawatu InterClub matches hut it is hoped that a K'ani will he aide to eider the tournament this year. The balance-sheet disclosed a credit balance of JM 2/5.

In speaking to the report, the pic-idonl thanked members fortheii support during the past year and Mrs. Owen for the efficient mannei in which she had handled tin* seci eta rial Hilt ies of the Cluh. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The election of oUlcers for the en suing year resulted as follows: —

If was decided to write the Bowling Club, asking if il would toplire— the croquet lawn during the coming season. Vote.-, of thanks were accorded Mr. Xcivtli and Air. lluwc for the perfect condition in which the green had been kept during the pa.-t season, a similar Vote being accorded Mr. I).
