An old proverb says, “Better late than never," but there is always an exception to every rule. For instance, if you have an entry for the National Dairy show at Palmerston North from 17th to 21st June, and you have not entered it by Wednesday next., well, tbe fallacy of the old proverb is proven. —I^.E.D. The staff of the Alanawatu and West Coast A. & 11 Association are at present working overtime preparing for the winter show next month. Entries are rolling in every day, amt intending exhibitors are reminded that the last day for receiving them is Wednesday next, 4th June, at 5 p.m. Crime costs the American people £100,000,0011 a year, according to the vice-president of the National Surety Company, who counts the losses as follows: —Embezzlement, £25,000,000; burglary and theft, £50,000,000; forgery and fraud, £25,000,000.
