DEFEAT WANGANUI -BY 19 POINTS TO 3. . •Disclosing a speedy and dangerous Ibncddine, the British Rugby tourists defeated the Wanganui team at Wanganui yesterday by 19 points to 3 in the first match of tlie tour, Britain scored three converted tries and a dropped goal to Wanganui’s unconverted try. There was no comparison between the two sides as far as hack play was concerned, but iu the forwards the Wanganui team held its own, much better especially in the second spell. The superior weight of the British serum resulted in the backs being frequently seen in action with destructive results to the Wanganui defence. At half-time the score stood at . IT —nil, hut when the teams- again took the held the Wanganui men gave a much better account of themselves. The forwards adopted an open bustling style of play and succeeded in keeping Britain’s hacks fairly short oC opportunities.
