HARBOUR BOARD RATE
MAY NOT BE RECURRING. When the letter from the Foxton Harbour Board notifying the Council that its portion of the Harbour Board rate would be £l-19, at last night’s Borough Council meeting, ilie Mayor said that during the past few years there had been sufficient shipping to meet interest and sinking fund only on the rate, leaving nothing for improvements and repairs. The Board hoped, with increased shipping to lie able to carry oh in the future without having to make the rate a recurring one. Cr. Roore said the balance-sheet would lie before next meeting. Then' had been no shipping for practically a year prim- in lasi .Tulv hut il was now looking up and I lie port was bidding its own.
