To those who have not seen him it is hard to express the power of the dynamic personality of Maurice Chevalier, the French stage star, who is now appearing in Paramount Pictures. With his iirst, picture he l.oi.- been an instant success in. both America and England, rivalling only hi- popularity on the French stage which earned for him the name of the Idol of Paris. Chevalier is one of those persons with whom everyone feels at home, and his charm is most effective. The lirst picture, coming to the Town Hall on Wednesday, is “Innocents of Paris," a tale, as the title indicates, of Paris. Chevalier, you say it “Che-vat-veay," is a secondhand dealer who falls ill love with a beautiful giri, Louise. Her father does not think him good enough, and tries to break the romance. Bill Chevalier becomes a famous stage star, and wins out. in love as well. This picture was directed for Paramount by Richard Wallace, who has several successes to his i-rcdii. Others in support of Mr Chevalier are Sylvia Beecher,j George Fawcett, Margaret Livingston and John Miljart. Willi "Mad Si-rambles" (comedy) and "Pirate of Panama,” at usual prices . F’eginaJd Denny in “lied Hot Speed," should give patrons a great laugh at flic Town llall next Saturday. His bouts with speeding motorists supply most of the laughs in his latest picture, in which he is supported by Alice Day and Thomas Ricketts. Usual prices.
