The death has occurred in Gisborne of Mr. John Clark, a well known sheep farmer, who recently gave .050011 for radium purchases.

The deafh lias occurred of the Poel Laureate, Dr. Robert Bridges, aged SO. lie had been Poet Laureate since 1013 and bad the Order of Merit conferred on him last vear.

Mr. Henry li. Wall, a pioneer settler who arrived in New Zealand in 1852, died in Gisborne at Ihe age of 70. He was an ox-Mayor of Napier before coming to Gisborne in 1882.

The death occurred at Rotorua on Tuesday of Mrs. W. A. Butt, moIher of the Rev. Bennett, Bishop of A.o-lea-roa. Deceased was married twice and leaves a large family of grown-up sons and daughters. Sin.* was a lineal descendant of Tufuiiekai and llinemoa.

An old and respecied resident of Weraroa passed away on April 13, in Hie person of Mrs. Phoebe Entv. isle on the day following her fiOtli birthday. Mr. and Airs. Entwisle cclebrateil their golden wedding oil January 29, 1928. Stic leaves, besides her husband, a family of eight.

With her eldest sister Bella, Mrs. Staples Brown had shown numbers the sights of Whakarewarewa. She was educated at Htikarere Girls’ College, and had lived in England for the past 20 years.
