BREACHES OF THE LICENSING ACT.
ILLEGALLY ON LICENSED PREMISES.
At. llio local Magistrate's Court this morning' before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.AI., L. Andrew, J. 11. I‘arJitt, M. .McGregor, ,}. A. Edwards and W. Tennant were charged with being found without lawful excuse on the licensed premises of the family Hotel on April sth. In the ease of Barra it, Constable ('wen said that at a few minutes before midnight on the date in question he was seen climbing up the tire escape of the family Hotel. lie had no excuse to oiler.
I’arlitl was also seen climbing tin; tire escape. .Neither accused appeared.
Both accused were eouvicted and lined 112 with costs 10/-.
Constable Owen said Andrews and three others were found in the hack yard of the .family Hotel at twenty minutes to twelve. All were under the influence of liquor and were trying to get into the hotel, hut just prior to that a warning had been sent to the hotel proprietor. Andrews had a bottle of beer in his possession.
i Andrews appeared voiutarily and was lined £2 and costs 3/-. McGregor was fined £2 with costs 1-5/-. Edwards was convicted and lined £2 with costs 10/- and Tennant a similar amount with costs 3/- for voluntary appearance.
