The brigade, under Deputy McCartney, turned out and were, put through certain tests by the Inspector who subsequently addressed the brigadesmen at the station, lie complimented the brigade on their cllioieney and stressed the importance of oral drill which, in
lime of action, enabled each man to carry out his duty sub-eonsciously and irrespective of all other happenings. Foxton should be proud to know that it was served by such an active- and willing body of men. Inspector* Hugo was also pleased to know that the hire Board had decided to instal an electric tire alarm system through the local post ofliec. lie remarked that when lie initiated this system, which was now being adopted in many country districts, certain dillicullies bad to be overcome and to-day the benetils of the system were generally recognised. He also noted with pleasure the added facilities at the .-.tatiou for the social enjoyment of i be men. The .Mayor (Mr. Perrcuu) thanked Inspector lingo on helialf of the brigade for his encouraging remarks and helpful advice.
