AEROPLANE CRASHES.

PILOT NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED.

Masterton, March 30,

An all-metal Avro-Avian aeroplane belonging to Mr. A. V. Jury, of Papawai, Greytown, crashed on Saturday afternoon when landing at “Willowburn," the property of Ihe owner. Mr. Jury, who was the pilot, was not seriously injured. The machine encountered an air pocket after the engine had been cut off and fell about 150 feet, striking some willow trees. One lower wing struck a bank and the ’plane came to rest against a stump, but did not capsize. Mr. Jury was struck by a. willow branch aiul had some teeth knocked out when lie was thrown against the windscreen, but otherwise he escaped injury, although rendered unconscious for about ten minutes. The machine was very badly damaged, although the engine appears to be intact.
