PERSONAL.

Mr. J. Martin, stationmaster, returned to Foxton from his annual leave on Tuesday: Mrs. John Ross, of Thynne St., leaves Foxton to-morrow for Dunedin on holiday. ReY. W. H. Nicholas is expected back in Foxton from Dunedin tomorrow. Miss Watson, who has been spending a holiday in Foxton, returned to Wellington yesterday. Air. and Mrs. A. Browne and family, of Whyte Street, are leaving Foxton shortly for Wellington. * Air. and Mrs. and ALiss W. D. Bauckham, of Masterton, are on a visit to Foxton.

Captain Hayes, MX'., of the .Marine Department, is again visiting Foxton for the purpose of studying the habits of the whitebait.

The friends of Mr. F. J. Carmont will be pleased to learn that he is now about again after his recent serious illness.

Mr. and Mrs. I. Corn and family left for Napier yesterday where Airs. Corn intends spending a holiday. Air. Corn-is expected back in Foxton to-day.

Airs. D. R. Barron and Mrs. Bain left for Wanganui to-day to represent the local branch of the Plunket Society at the Provincial Conference to lie held in that town.

Constable J. V. Bell was able to pay a visit to Foxton to-day on Court affairs but he has not yet been discharged from the. Palmerston North Hospital.

Mr. J. Kirkland, well 'known locally, but now a Christchurch resident, has received notice of his appointment to the permanent staff of the P. and T. staff of that city.

Miss M. Barron, the local lady athlete, has been selected to represent the Wellington Province in the X.Z. Championships to be held at Wanganui on Saturday and left for Wanganui to-day.

Miss E. Owen, who has now completed her training at the Wellington Public Hospital is at presold spending three weeks holiday with her parents, Air. and Airs. R. Owen, of Foxton, prior to taking up a post graduate course in nursing. The Rev. Air. Tapp, of Okato, Taranaki, who has been appointed minister in charge of the Foxton .Methodist- circuit, will ta£e up his duties early next month. In the meantime Mr. Shanks will fill the vacancy.
