DIDN’T KNOW SHAKESPEARE WAS DEAD.
lhe most comical thing that has happened at Stratford-on-Avon since 1922, when an American tried to buy the town clock, is the receipt (says an English message), of the following cablegram:— William Shakespeare, play-
wviglit, care Mayor Stratford-on-Avon, England. Re your film play, “Taming of I lie Shrew,” now appearing at Toronto, I am informed you have written several others not yet (ilmed. How much do foil require le sell me lilm rights for Canada and United States of all other plays written or may write. Please cable immediately. Goldstein, Kingston Road, Toronto, iCanada.
The cable was via the ‘Western Union and was delivered in the usual manner which says much for the simple faith and professional honour of the service.
'lnquiries revealed -the existence of Mister Goldstein who is in the lilm business in Toronto.
