•It was unfortunate in the above event that the final beat occurred immediately after a dual relay heat in which Burns had been extended over 50 yards. The result was that he was not fit to compete in the final of the 100 yards event in the heats of which he had never been seriously challenged. Sportingly, however, he started, hut had to retire after the second lap. .MEN’S DIVE. T. Mellowship 1 J. Shand (P.) 2 Twenty-eight entries. DUAL RELAY HANDICAP. First heat: Miss P. On his and the Centre’s behalf he congratulated the Foxton swimmers on their success during the past lliree seasons. The Hirini brothers and W. Harrison, had, lie said, journeyed all over the district to participate in acquatie events and the various clubs throughout the Centre extended their congratulations and thanks to these swimmers with the hope that they would be favoured with eohtinued success. Mr. /Fahey then asked Mr. Harrison (captain) to accept the Levin cup which was won at Palmerston North this season by the Foxton Flying Squadron team (W. Harrison, W. and G. Hirini, F. Burns and R. Ball). Mr. Fahey said the cup had been presented last season by Mr. Levin, of Feilding, for competition amongst Flying Squadron teams and had been won that year by Feilding. Foxton had gained possession this year and he wished them success for the future. 'Cheers were then given for the winners.
